DENISE GRÜNSTEIN ART RUGS & RETRO PERSPECTIVE OF PALACE REVOLUTION

7.12.23–7.2.24

The exhibition shows two unique art rugs and a numer of pieces which is part of a project at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.

It is not the contemporary that is given pride of place, but the historic. Two unique pieces that have never been shown before will also be on display at the exhibition. Through her pictures, she connects Spanish history to its rich exclusivity going back to Diego Velásquez, the world-renowned court artist, and his magnificent portrait of the Spanish royal family Las Meninas. It is the ultimate acknowledgement of the cultural grandeur of Spain at the time.

Once again, Denise Grünstein leads a palace revolution where the viewer cannot be sure wherethe historical dimension ends and the modern-day revolution takes over. This duality is exactly what makes Denise Grünstein’s photography so challenging.
